Change has always been a constant in life, and my career as an appraiser is no exception. It's not always easy to adapt to change, but I've come to realize that it can also present incredible opportunities. As a human being, I too have my comfort zone, my "bubble," and stepping outside of it can be daunting. But over time, I've learned that change can be a positive force in my professional journey.
One of the significant changes that have impacted my work is the advent of technology, especially AI. Initially, I was skeptical about embracing this new wave, but I decided to explore it further. That's when I came across Chat GPT, an AI tool that has revolutionized how I approach my appraisal, coaching, and short-term rental businesses.
I remember the first time my son mentioned Chat GPT; he sent me a link and urged me to check it out. At first glance, I didn't understand its potential or how it could transform my work. But curiosity got the better of me, and I began experimenting with the tool. I soon discovered that Chat GPT could synthesize vast amounts of information and provide me with quick, well-written responses to various queries. It was like having an AI assistant that made my tasks more efficient and accurate. For instance, when a guest reached out to me about the best places for weather and surf conditions at one of my rental properties, I had no idea how to answer. Chat GPT came to the rescue, offering a perfect response that I could confidently share with the guest.
Change is afoot in the appraisal world as well, with evolving guidelines and regulations. Some of these changes have sparked fear and uncertainty in our community. However, I firmly believe that change can be an opportunity for growth and improvement. Instead of resisting it, I've chosen to embrace technology like Chat GPT to enhance my services and provide more value to my clients.
Change can be both challenging and rewarding. As an appraiser, I've learned that stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing technological advancements like Chat GPT can lead to exciting opportunities and enhance my career. It's all about adapting, growing, and finding creative ways to leverage change for a more successful future in the appraisal world.
