Why I Changed My Mind About Agents at Inspections

I’ll be honest—I used to hate having real estate agents at inspections. I’m an introvert by nature, and when I’m trying to be efficient (which I always am), extra people in the space just feel like a distraction. I’ve said it before, and I’ve believed it for a long time: inspections go faster and smoother when I’m alone.

But I’ve changed my mind.

Not because I’ve become more extroverted, and not because agents have stopped trying to sell the home mid-inspection (they haven’t). I’ve changed my stance because I’ve finally realized the opportunity I was missing.

Recently, I had an inspection where the agent was present. As we chatted, I casually asked when the last time an appraiser had visited her office to answer questions. Her answer? “I don’t think we ever have.” That led to a meaningful conversation, and now I’m scheduled to speak directly to her team—real estate professionals who can refer private work my way.

It was a clear reminder: agents are networkers. They’re connectors. And there’s no better time to connect with them than during an inspection when you have their full, undivided attention.

So, if you're like me—reluctant to share your inspection space—it might be time to reconsider. You don’t need to change your personality. Just recognize the opportunity that’s right in front of you.
